Abstract (first outline)

Martha Rogers
Unitary
Human Beings Model

This work is for an English class of nursing. I have to talk about an interesting topic for me. So I decided to talk about Martha Rogers, a nursing theorist very important for nursing history. Models and theory are very important in nursing because those are the base of nursing science that guide the nursing practice. The purpose of this study is help us to know about the importance of “Unitary Human Beings”, model created by Martha Rogers. This model allows nursing students to understand and receive patients from homeodynamics perspective. Martha Rogers took concepts from different areas like astronomy, history, anthropology, physics, literature, sociology, psychology, biology, mathematics and philosophy to conceive her model. The theory is based on two theories: Systems theory and Homeodynamic theory. The model has four postulates (Energy field, Universe of open systems, Pattern, Pandimensionality), four methaparadigm (Nursing, Person, Health, and Environment) and three principles (Helicity, Resonance and Integration). From those statements, she proposed to see unitary human beings during the time. The objective of Martha Rogers’s model is stimulate an harmonica relationship between human and their environment. In nursing practice, the theory is centered in nurse-patient relationship like a humanitarian interrelationship; patient is a complex human being that is not only conformed by health issues. Nursing professional assumes a multifaceted role in patients care.
